One of Suffolk’s fastest-growing full-service digital agencies is currently in the process of an exciting office move to an iconic location, taking the company back to where it all began in 2014.

Unity Online is embarking upon the next stage of its growth curve, with an ambitious move to exclusive offices situated within Needham Market train station.

The commercial space within this Grade II listed building has been unoccupied for more than seven years and significant interior renovations are being invested to create productive, feature-laden working environments for Unity’s digital specialists to thrive in.

Returning to where it all began

The move marks a return to Unity Online’s roots, with the agency’s founder, Alex Pattenden leasing the company’s first office within Needham Market’s Lion Barn Industrial Estate. Alex himself grew up in the Mid Suffolk town and is delighted to secure terms on a move that will enable Unity Online to house as many as 50 employees, whilst playing a role in restoring Needham Market train station to its former glory.

The Jacobean-style train station was built in 1849, sporting symmetrical storey wings either side of a single-storey booking hall. This red brick building also boasts stunning cornices and string courses of Caen limestone. In the past, the building has been subdivided for light industrial use, but Unity Online will be taking full and exclusive use of the commercial premises.

“For some time, I have had ambitions to return the agency to where it all began in Needham Market,” said Alex.

“Needham’s train station is an iconic building in the local area and offers numerous strategic benefits for our employees and clients.”

“To be situated literally on the train line makes commuting easier for staff and provides direct access for clients to come and see us.”

“We’ve got some very exciting plans for the new office, which we hope will engage and motivate staff; giving them a futureproof workspace to be proud of.”

Full exclusive use

Unity Online’s new office space will extend to three floors, giving the agency the freedom to create plentiful staff breakout areas that foster collaboration and innovation, as well as a games room for lunchtimes and out-of-hours.

The unstaffed Needham Market train station also benefits from free car parking throughout Station Yard, which is another logistical boon for the agency.

A tight deadline has been set for the building’s renovation, with the team hopeful of moving in by the end of December.
